Hi there! Lovely to meet you!
We are a holiday company with a difference. We travel with a purpose. We love the environment, and do everything we can to not only protect, but repay our carbon footprint. In fact, we support one of Africa's most endangered species - the Golden Mole.
We also love God's Word, and the sound preaching of it, and so we support Johannesburg Bible College, as well as having preachers who preach soundly on our holidays.
One of the other things that are close to God's heart is that of orphans, and so we shall be supporting an orphanage through our holidays when we get the chance.
I'm Karen, one of the owners, and I absolutely love travel - to me it is one of the most refreshing and inspiring ways to recharge my batteries and reconnect with God. I am passionate about wanting to help you to find the very best holidays where you can be thoroughly revived and ready to face the world!!!
I am also very passionate about giving people the opportunity to give back in some way, and you can read further on that below.
At any rate, I've always found that holidays help me perform better at life afterwards, and I'm certain you probably feel the same.
I trust that our website inspires and encourages you today, and that it helps you on your way to reaching the potential God created in you.
Our Mascot: Chrys, the Golden Mole
Part of our 'Giving back' programme means that we support the environment. We are adopting the Golden Mole, and are going to support the conservation efforts regarding this little animal.
I'll let him introduce himself:
Hi there, I'm Chrys, the Golden Mole.
I'm endangered - some of my species are critically endangered - and that's why Refresh chose me to be a part of their team. I'm told that I have a beautiful golden sheen, but of course I can't see that as I am blind. (Cute though -come on, admit it !) I'm about 7.5 cm long, and am normally found in Southern Africa. The photo of me above is one of Eremiptalpa granti namibensis, if you really want to know.
What is most fascinating about me is that I actually 'swim' through sand using my back flippers. This means that I don't have to come up to the surface to face to the full heat of the desert - though of course I mostly move around at night.
The other, most alluring fact about me is that I can find my food (gourmet termites) by listening of the beat of grass roots against the sand as the tops of the grasses sway in the breeze. Quite the rocker, - me!!
You'll be seeing me around a lot, so until next time - hamba kahle! (Zulu for 'Goodbye/Go well')
